“lord, open my lips so that I may utter praise“

Forming a prelude to the "Amidah", the central prayer of the Jewish liturgy, the text of this piece implores God to "open our lips'' before we may begin to pray. The piece similarly makes use of the ways the members of an acappella choir may open in prayer: having the members of the choir cover their mouths with their hands and opening them, gradually opening vowel sounds, and physically turning on stage.
